A mostly ground work class focusing on making a light, soft and willing partner capable of doing a multitude of exercises/maneuvers that will make the mounted work easier for the horse and human. This class is suitable for any horse or person who has little or no experience in the above mentioned skills.

A minimal amount of ground work. Mounted work will focus on developing a light, willing partner through learning all the basic exercises or maneuvers from the saddle through clear communication from the rider.
This is accomplished by having the rider understand proper positioning of the aids as well as the "feel" needed to get a desired response when applying the aids.

No ground work. We will be building on all the basic exercises and maneuvers by learning how to begin the process of converting them to more advanced maneuvers. This will be done by us learning to refine our application of the aids and learning how this slowly begins the journey to the horse's refinement. This class includes work at all three gaits. A good opportunity to introduce your horse to the hackamore for those of us who are ready.

A class for more advanced horses and riders. This class focuses on more collected work as well as introducing counter canter, lead departures and preparing for flying changes.

Participants will start their own colts, properly preparing them for saddling, introduction of ground work, fence work, snaffle bit, and handling of the colts' feet in a low stress environment for both horse and handler.

Obtaining a thorough understanding of the equipment used, how it is used and why it is used. Lots of preparation will be done on the ground for horse and rider. All basic rope handling skills as well as learning the mechanics of some basic head and heel shots will be learned before mounting. Thoroughly preparing our horse to be roped on by exposing him to the feel of the rope touching him and trying to present situations from the ground that might or will arise when mounted.
This preparation sets up the horse and rider to be as successful as possible and as safe as possible once mounted. No live cattle in this class.

This class will be all mounted work. Make sure your horse and you are well educated in basic horsemanship skills and you have the ability to operate all the horse's body parts independently of each other while riding with one hand. Here we learn dallying and rope running skills through a number of exercises as well as learning to properly handle our slack. Roping dummies and dragging a log or tire will be used as well as roping live cattle either with a break away hondo or a real hondo. There will be an opportunity to learn to tie our horse off to an object in preparation for tying to live cattle. Learning methods of laying cattle down and tying down cattle will be available as well. This class isn't for the faint of heart!!!

This class will use cattle to show how horsemanship is applied and benefits us in a working situation. Tracking cattle, holding a rodear, and sorting cattle out of a rodear will be covered. Lots of time will be given to learning how to "read" cattle using the vaquero style of low stress cattle handling.

Regardless of what that factor might be, we invite you to attend as a spectator. Clinic spectators will gain valuable knowledge by watching Scott’s in-person demonstrations. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions as they arise. Contact us for more information.
